How much should one accept as compensation for pain and suffering after a car accident?
Several weeks ago I was a passenger in a car that had an accident when the car drifted off the road and collided with a tree. My step father and mother were also in the car. I was in the back seat next to the passenger side, which was occupied by my mother. My stepfather was driving. As for my family, my stepfather was not injured but my mother had a major accident; she had a fractured sternum, broken hand and injured her knee. My injures were a fractured sternum, and fractured collar bone. We use the same insurance company with them. For this reason, up to the moment, they were the ones to cover all medical costs. The representative of my stepfather (the one who handles the personal injury aspect of the accident) has said that he will contact me later once I have recovered to discuss how much will be paid to me. Before consulting an attorney, what amount would be reasonable?
